Bilberry, or Baccinium myrtillus, is native to many partsof Europe. This plant has blue-black berries that contain flavonoids, particularly anthocyanosides. Bilberry extracts are considered non-toxic even at high doses. The most well known therapeutic effect is in the treatment of night blindness, macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and varicose veins.
